45 RPM : Sandra Claus is back in town

Ready in time before Christmas the band release this nice 8 track Christmas Album where Sandra and her three bandmates deliver the goodies before Santa Claus comes along. Well, most of the songs are wellknown and already released a few times by several other bands, but 45 R.P.M. not just cover this songs straight, they gave the whole dish the right drive to entertain in their typical way and right the opener " Santa Claus Is Back In Town” is complete different to all those other coverversions of the last years. Well, main reason for this is, for sure, the girl on lead vox, so Sandra have an extraordinary voice but also the rest of the band give enough drive in the right direction. Anyway, in the same vein comes " Dig That Crazy Santa” followed by " Mama’s Twistin’ With Santa” a great songs, with an good ska-rhythm and one of the absolute highlights on this minialbum. " Reindeer Rock’ comes along with an slight Nothern Rock’n’Roll beat and " Santa Bring My Baby Back ( To Me )” starts with a " Mr. Sandman Intro” and rocks straight in the usual uptempo. " Jingle Jangle” is one of the next highlights, so it’s rockin’ with a great Diddley rhythm followed by the usual " Santa Baby ", whatelse can do when a women fronts a band. At last " Feurige Weihnacht’” a tune with german lyrics and it’s, as usual, not my cup of tea so it sounds, for me, always like german pop music or late Ace Cats. Anyway, I am sure that fans of the band are more than pleased with this release and I must admit it is a very nice idea and a very nice album to swing ya’ in the right mood for Christmas.
