Moonshine Reunion rose out of the ashes of Los Fabulous Frankies, a rockin'
road machine that has seen its share of godforsaken towns all across the
mainland. Labeled as the "King Kurt of the rockabilly" it ain't
a surprise if we tell you their gigs were always very energetic, sweaty
& messy. With at least one concert a week, Los Fabulous Frankies were
probably one of the most productive bands in the Belgian rockabilly scene
at the time. When the band fell apart in 1999 the 3 core members had enough
from playing fun & crazed rock'n'roll, and decided to take it more
serious now. And that's how Moonshine Reunion was born.
Guitarman Wan & drumplayer Joris started their carreer as a musician
in the late 1980's, when they stormed through the Belgian psychobilly
scene with a band named "Boozy". Later they found theirselves
in another psycho band, "The A-Bombs". Frontman & bassplayer
Clark played in several authentic rockabilly bands before, such as Frantic
Frankie's Hot Rod Rumble and Clark & The Aces (backed by what now
are The Seatsniffers).
So with all those experienced guys, it's no wonder that Moonshine Reunion
was a grand live act from day one. And this time around they are hellbent
to take it even further. With a chain of skinfully crafted songs, that
truly hold their own among rare standards.
The band taps into half a century of roots music, like the glory rockabilly
days of Sun Records to more recent Americana brilliance of Dave Gonzales
and a tender twist of Chris Isaak. Just an old Gretsch guitar won't
cut it for Moonshine Reunion. These excellent players master a wide
range of vintage gear to enrich their authentic tone. Although, don't
say "too authentic", because after all they sound very fresh
& modern, with all original & self penned songs.
In November 2006 Moonshine Reunion released their debut album "Sex,
Trucks & Rock'n'Roll" (produced by Walter "Seatsniffers"
Broes) on our Drunkabilly Label. This album became in no time a top-selling
item in the Belgian Rockabilly scene. So now the story of this wonderfull
Country-Roots-Rockabilly keeps on going, with as well concerts all over
Belgium as abroad.
